Stourport markers, Stourport Canal Basins, Worcestershire [2008]
With British Waterways (Alex Ball and Susannah Ronan) and David Patten.
Being strategically placed allows the cast lead markers to reveal anything from survey lines to the enginnering of weirs to the remnance of warehouse floors, whilst an accompanying map tells their relative stories. Markers were cast in an open top mould with letter and arrow pressings, sympathetic with the lead pourings and simple functional, painted or cast text on site. Installing them by hand over two days helped spark conversations with passers by.
